Otago Golf Club - Artwork and yardage book proposal.
The artwork above shows 2 options. 3D (oblique) and 2D (birdseye). Both are good options for displaying the beauty of a golf hole. Possibly it could be argued that the 3D option allows a better opportunity to highlight the true unique characteristics of each hole - trees, slopes etc. In a perfect world you might see value in both options. The 3D imagery for use as tee signage and for use in an online tour and the 2D option used for a dynamic and practical yardage book while still being visually appealing. However saying that cost will play a part. You mentioned holes sponsors whom I presume will cover cost of any artwork which is great so this may influence you decisions? If I was to suggest one or the other I would suggest 2D as it serves the purpose for tee signage well and is more practical in a yardage book and also requires much less accuracy regarding slopes and trees etc.
As a guide cost for 18 holes either in 2D or 3D is the same at $290 per hole. To add both options - having both 2D & 3D - it is just an extra $100 per hole.
Regards production of a yardage book. The cost to produce a print ready book is an extra $1900 plus any costs. This would be delivered ready for your printer to print. Costs are included if there was a need to travel and do all surveying. Considering you mentioned the possibility of having one in time for the NZ Interprovincials it might be unrealistic to think it would be ready in time considering I may not be back until mid October from Scotland. In light of this and to make sure any book would be ready in time I would suggest I would work on this while I was in Scotland so would need you to check, confirm and include any measurement details for inclusion.
I have checked google earth and I believe it is up to date which is great. I believe I could produce most of the work from this. The imagery is good enough even to locate the fairway markers and tee markers. If there were sprinklers we could work around this but would require some work your end. I could produce an initial draft, after confirmation of any order of course, from which you could check for suitability - regarding layout etc. Any sponsor material to include would need to be designed and delivered by the sponsor or their graphic designer. This should be straight forward.
Driving distances I can do remotely thanks to the up to date imagery however this would simply need double checking with a laser on site.

Yardage Book layout examples
The examples here show both 2D & 3D artwork included in a yardage book.
Demo - Online course Tour
I have included this simply as a teaser. You will note one shows Hole 1 at OGC. I did a mock up sometime ago now so handy to include here now also. They both provide nice simple examples of what can be created which is a bit more interactive and possibly more attractive for sponsors when submitting any proposal to them? This would be created and delivered for playing on a website and also in HD to play on the clubhouse/pro shop TV. If you did think an addition like this was realistic then I would do a full bundle price. Nice for you to know what is possible at the least.
